Tammiku Gymnasium of Kohtla-Yarve opened its doors on the 9th of September, 1991. It is one of the biggest and youngest schools in the republic. There are over 800 schoolboys and girls studying here. Our school provides all necessary facilities for successful studying: convenient classrooms and labs, an assembly hall, two well-equipped computer rooms, an I.T. room, two gyms, a dining-hall, a library and a swimming-pool. More than 80 well-qualified teachers work here. Senior students have an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of foreign languages such as English, German and French, and different exact science subjects e.g. mathematics, physics and I.T.
Our gymnasium has its own symbols: the flag, the hymn and the logo.
The native language of our students is Russian. Still, all children learn Estonian, the official language of the republic, from the 1st form. School subjects are taught both in Russian and Estonian to ensure that all our school-leavers can speak Estonian at the required level.
The school is open six days a week from 7 a.m. till 10 p.m. It has excellent sporting facilities, including various sport groups, which are meant not only for our students but also for local people in the town.
Our gymnasium has developed the friendly cooperation with other Estonian schools as well as the schools from Germany and Denmark. We also work in the frames of different projects and arrange international students’ exchanges.
We are proud of our school-leavers who are studying at all universities and colleges in Estonia and abroad.
We aim at providing our students with a high standard of knowledge which ensures their competitiveness in obtaining a prestigious education.
